There's A High Value On TIME In The West
My yearly vacation this time was in the
I'd been to a couple of countries in Africa. Kenya, Ghana, SouthAfrica Togo and Benin Republic but my trip to the west was totally different.
Here are some of my experiences/observations from my trip to the U. K.
I arrived at exactly 1pm (UK time) and after much questioning by the immigration I was allowed to cross into the land of the queen.
I observed everywhere was orderly, neat and monitored via CCTV. The most amazing was the value placed on TIME.
I bought a Bus ticket GBP50, that would take me to Leicester, from there I boarded another bus to Loughborough which was my final
destination.
My bus ticket read 3:00 pm departure, by 2:57 pm my bus arrived. The driver upon checking and confirming travelers tickets loaded the trunk with our luggage and we boarded.
The estimated duration was 2 hours and 35 minutes. To my amazement, we got to St Margaret's Bus station Leicester, at the exact scheduled time. The ride was smooth, no checks and not a single police checkpoint.
I waited about 30mins to catch the next bus to Loughborough, and the ride was about
40mins to my next destination.
In all of these, I got to my destination at the precise time I was suppose to arrive.
Time was prompt and exact.
If there was anything I brought back, it was the emphasis and value placed on TIME.
I observed that for every place I wanted to go to, those I wanted to meet were very particular about timing. I could not bump into anyone by accident as all appointments were booked ahead.
I could predict my arrival time to any destination....
Everyone I visited were also time conscious. They all stressed that time was the basis for living in the UK.
I noticed everyone had a plan for their lives. Either short time,Mid-term or long term.
No one was playing around or idling away.
I had to adjust quickly to the time consciousness.
Money is important, but in the west, time is much more important that Gold or money.
If you booked a train or Bus ticket, and you arrived late, the money used to purchase the tickets is Gone.
They value every minute!
The west have used this important tool to structure all of their lives, and it has worked for them. We can learn from them.
Make TIME your best friend by placing a premium on it.
