Dear Women, Your Life Is Bigger Than Marriage

Image
One thing that genuinely breaks my heart is seeing women, especially in women’s groups and even Christian spaces, emotionally collapsing under the weight of relationships and marriages that are draining the life out of them.  Every day, it’s another post:  “Pray for my marriage.”  “Pray for my husband.”  “Pray he changes.”  “Pray he comes home.”  “Pray he stops cheating.”  “Pray he starts treating me right.”   And while prayer is powerful, I sometimes want to ask: At what point do we also pray for wisdom, clarity, self-worth, and courage? Because some of these women are carrying entire marriages alone.  They are praying alone.  Fighting alone.  Trying alone.  Growing alone.  Meanwhile, the men they are desperately trying to hold onto are not even doing the bare minimum required of decent adult human beings, not spiritually, emotionally, mentally, or relationally. And somehow, women have been conditioned to believe tha...

Did I Oversleep… or Did Life Just Move Too Fast?

Image
I can’t remember when I did my 30s.  Just yesterday, I was a teenager, full of energy, dreams, and time that felt endless. And now? I’m forty-something, trying to piece together how the years slipped through my fingers so quietly. It honestly feels like I must have overslept for a minute or someone turned the hands of the clock too fast. Because how did we get here so quickly?   One minute, you’re figuring out who you are. The next, you’re expected to have it all together—career, family, purpose, stability. And somewhere in between, entire seasons of your life pass without you fully sitting in them. That’s the part that gets me. Not just that we’re aging, but that we don’t even get to pause long enough to fully enjoy each stage before the next one arrives.  And the truth? Life doesn’t wait.  Every single day, new people are born into this world, filling spaces, taking up roles, stepping into moments we once occupied. Someone else is now the teenager I u...

Restarting my purpose in my 40s

Going back to school in your 40s is a different kind of journey. You’re not just a student. You’re a parent, a provider, a problem-solver and sometimes the emotional anchor for everyone around you. You’re writing papers after putting kids to bed, studying between responsibilities and showing up to class while life is still happening in full force. The bills don’t go on holiday, responsibilities don’t pause, everything is moving at the speed of light and exhaustion is often part of the package. But so is purpose. There’s something powerful about choosing growth at this stage of life. It’s not about proving anything to anyone. It’s about evolving and building something that aligns with who you’re becoming. For me, it’s also about stability. Life has required me to press “restart” more times than I care to admit and at this stage, I’m determined to build something that lasts. That determination is what keeps me hanging in there, even when it feels tough. Yes, it’s challenging. ...

My 40s: A Season of Mercy, Healing, and Purpose

Image
Last Sunday was my birthday, and I had so much joy sharing it with people who mean the most to me at this moment in time. I’ve never been the type to go all out for birthdays, but something changed when I turned 40 a few years ago. Since then, I’ve made it a yearly ritual to do a photoshoot and honestly, I love it! Those beautiful pictures are more than just images; they are reminders. They remind me of the many times  mercy said no  to situations that tried to break me. Life has not been gentle with me.  I’ve been roughly handled many-times by the storms of life. Yet people admire me. They call just to tell me how “strong” I am and how proud they feel of me. I usually chuckle when I hear that—not because I don’t appreciate it, but because they know… without fully understanding. They don’t know the details of what my life has been and still is. And yet, here I stand.  Still standing. Still rising. Truth be told, I don’t know how I do it but I’m even prouder of...

Kindness isn’t an open tab

Image
Lately, I receive so many requests on a daily basis that I honestly start to wonder if I’m living in a different world. Yes! we all agree these are hard times.  Everyone is going through something. But I still struggle to understand how someone can sit comfortably in their home and place demands on another person to meet their personal needs without any real value exchange. Don’t get me wrong…life happens. Unexpected problems arise, and sometimes we genuinely need help from others. That’s normal. That’s human…But how does a grown adult convince themselves that taxing another adult for their birthday or weekend chilling is reasonable?  Who doesn’t have a birthday? House rent, school fees sef no dey my list of emergency expenses talk less of birthday or wedding. Let’s get serious… I like to think of myself as a generous person. I give when I can, I show up when it matters. But I’m beginning to realize that many people who casually “ask” me for help don’t actually  ne...

The art of loving.

Image
Claudia is the name Love is not a prize you win for just “being someone” or just “doing something”, it’s more of what you do and how you do it. Is the art in the act that makes it interesting. I recently got my daughter an iPhone 16 for her birthday. She was happy and grateful. Later, I got her a pair of AirPods. Her reaction? Pure joy. Uncontrollable excitement. The kind that lights up the whole room. Logically, the iPhone should have meant more. It costs more yea… It carries more “value” on paper but here’s the truth: while the iPhone meant more to  me (because it cost me more)  the AirPods meant more to  her and  her reaction was completely VALID. That became a teachable moment for me because it mirrors how many of us love in our relationships. We often give what  we  think is important. What  we  value rather than what truly matters to the person we love. And when our effort isn’t received the way we expect, we feel unappreciated, frustrated o...

Dear Millenials

Image
Claudiopuzzo  Dear millennials, Are we coming out this year or are we staying safely behind our keypads, tucked in bed? As we step into a new year, I’ve been reflecting on the quiet loneliness that can come with being a mature single millennial in a world that’s moving at the speed of AI. Everything feels fast, automated and constantly evolving, yet many of us were raised with conservative values that emphasized patience, depth and meaningful connection. Between adapting to innovation and holding on to who we are, it’s easy to feel like we don’t quite fit in. We’re navigating family, careers, growth and self-awareness whilst still craving genuine human connection. I don’t know… but maybe we need to start showing up a little more offline. Authentically and courageously with our imperfections, just as we are. There has to be a way to embrace progress without losing ourselves. 2026: I’m choosing connection over isolation, one conversation at a time. Tag me to events in the Bay ...

Your body is counting…

Image
I wanted to mind my business but since the year is coming to a wrap, I said let me tell you… As the years count, your body keeps scores. There’s a simple truth many of us overlook in our daily lives. Any part of your body that you overuse will age faster than the rest.  The body is incredibly resilient but it is not invincible. When we push it beyond balance, it always finds a way to remind us.Many people overlook how lifestyle choices especially when taken to extremes, can affect long-term productivity.  Think about it...if you sit for long hours every day, your back and joints eventually pay the price. If your eyes are constantly exposed to bright screens without rest, strain and vision problems become almost inevitable.  The same principle applies to every part of the body. For instance, there's a common belief amongst men that they must have sporadic intercourse to protect their prostate health which makes them often sleep around with multiple women. You would ...

My Shocking Nigerian Passport Renewal Experience

Image
I still can’t believe I renewed my Nigerian passport from outside Nigeria in  less than two weeks  without stepping foot in the embassy.  Yes, you read that right.  No travel. No queues. No stress. Just me, my phone and a surprisingly efficient system. How It Started My passport expired in September and I needed to renew it urgently but I could not travel to the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, D.C.. So I started digging around for alternatives and discovered something I wasn’t sure was even real:  Contactless passport renewal . All from home! Thankfully, I had the new B-series passport (the one linked to your NIN) which qualified me for the online process. Still, I was skeptical. Nigerian portals can sometimes be… let’s just say, “audio innovations.” Tech this, innovation that but when it's time to actually work? E get as e be. But since I had no choice (and no travel plan), I decided to give it a go. The application process was  shockingly smooth. I comple...

If you don’t love you enough, who will?

Image
Nothing good comes from arming anyone — whether with a gun or with your heart. When we think of weapons, we imagine power placed in someone’s hands that can harm us. Yet many of us do the same in relationships when we hand over our peace, self-worth and identity to someone else. It may not leave visible scars but the emotional weight can be just as destructive. Too often, love is mistaken for overextending ourselves. We bend until we break, sacrifice until we’re empty and chase after people who only meet us halfway (if at all). Surrendering the best parts of ourselves to someone who hasn’t earned or proven they can protect them. This is not love.   True love doesn’t ask you to arm someone else at your own expense. It doesn’t demand endless explanations, constant proving or the quiet acceptance of neglect. The right person will not only accept your love but also honor it, protect it and give back with consistency and care. Staying true to yourself means recognizing that your h...

Walking Away with Peace

Image
I’m okay with being the villain in the story to anyone who lacks respect, commitment and common sense. Those words have become my mantra.  I no longer apologize for setting boundaries or for protecting my peace. I am okay with cutting ties with anyone who lacks integrity. With anyone who makes promises they do not intend to keep or says one thing while doing the opposite. I am very fine disconnecting from a person who creates a false sense of scarcity of themselves or resources just to watch me go through distress in the name of ‘testing my patience.’That is not love, it is manipulation…and I choose to walk away. I have zero appetite for nasty people or toxic relationships.  Life is too short to invest energy where it only breeds pain, confusion and emptiness. So when I find myself in a situation that drains me and adds no value to my existence, I do not fight, I QUIT.  Quitting, for me, is not a sign of weakness. It is strength. It is freedom. It is self-love. My Peace o...

Guys, NECO Is Working: Fully Automated.

Image
NECO Surprised Me — In the Best Way! I honestly didn’t believe it until I experienced it myself. NECO (National Examinations Council) is the only Nigerian institution I’ve encountered that feels  truly automated . Here’s why I’m so impressed: An examination I wrote  25 years ago  (their very first pilot year) got verified and sent straight to my email  in a matter of seconds ! The entire process took me just about 5 minutes: ✅ Register online ✅ Make payment ✅ Verify payment ✅ Submit request That was it. No endless queues. No “come back tomorrow.” No chasing signatures. No frustrations with ChatBot. FULLY automated. My official report came through immediately and all for just  ₦5,000 . Let’s pause here: NECO has not only kept their records from Day 1 but also built a system that actually works. Wow! More surprising is the fact that I don’t have to submit any document, I only entered my exam number and voila! Now compare that with my alma mater, a Nigerian univers...

This Thing Called Marriage

Image
From a woman’s lens. What peace of mind looks like Marriage: A word so often dressed in the language of love, companionship and “happily ever after.” It is portrayed as the ultimate fulfillment of human connection…two hearts choosing to walk the same path, to share laughter, struggles and dreams. Whereas in actual sense, marriage is meant to be a partnership built on trust, respect and mutual sacrifice but  the reality for many is far this. Understand that marriage is not a bed of roses. It comes with challenges of course. It demands a lot of patience, understanding and commitment from both partners. Yet, in many homes this balance is missing. What should be a haven of safety sometimes becomes a place of silent suffering because of one person’s selfishness and desire for control. Many women especially, endure the weight of marriage at the mercy of merciless partners. They stay bound by culture, societal expectations or the hope that things will get better. Some endure emotio...

Stop Playing God: Dear Men

Image
Claudiopuzzo Some men move through life with a dangerous kind of arrogance, believing that because they have a little more money, attention or control in the moment, that they can treat a woman any way they like. They lie, manipulate, disrespect and toy with the heart of a woman who genuinely loved them and move on like kings thinking they have won in life.  Time shall tell… you are not God . You are not the ultimate source of her happiness or survival. You are just a man she chose to love and one day, when she chooses differently your relevance will evaporate like mist in the morning sun. Good women are patient. They absorb more than they should. They forgive more times than they tell you but when a good woman finally calls your bluff, when she finally stops caring, stops showing up, stops praying for you, stops waiting… Bro! it’s over for you. Life has a way of settling scores quietly and thoroughly. It may take a whil...

How to bag a man

Image
Duchess Claudiopuzzo 😍 A lot of women out there are confused  about what it really takes to bag a man. Here’s my simple advice:  stay in your feminine energy . A man who’s looking for a wife doesn’t want to feel like he’s dealing with another man trapped in a woman’s body. Meaning… it goes far beyond looks and curves. I know too much, I have too much, I can do so much will only burn you out. You’ll only be putting unnecessary weight on his “fragile ego” Sis, moderation is key. Dont be too forward. Let the man lead. Be his peace. When they say “be his peace” it means a whopping lot to know that it’s not every issue you confront, report or complain about. You need a strong "shock absorber" to handle some of his excesses. You need to chill for the most part. Do not be quick to speak and react in anger. If you’re not ready to leave  him and you know that raising a certain issue might tear you both apart, sometimes it’s wiser not to bring it up immediately. Timing and ...

To each their kind

Image
People often say that women today are not like their mothers, usually referring to how past generations endured both subtle and outright abuse in silence.  Many of those women cried themselves to sleep night after night but refused to leave, afraid of what society would say or unwilling to be labeled as having "failed" in marriage.   They held on to men who had already checked out of the marriage, making excuses for those who treated them worse than animals. They found reasons to stay, even when love and respect had long disappeared.   But today’s woman? She knows better. She is self-aware, values her peace and refuses to waste time on a man who doesn’t even know what he wants. She will not beg for love neither will she wait around for someone who doesn’t choose her nor tolerate being treated like an afterthought.   She loves herself enough to walk away from places where she isn’t wanted. The moment a relationship starts to feel like a bad idea or threatens her menta...

Addressing toxic work culture requires a concerted effort from leadership

Image
Toxic work culture within organizations can manifest in various ways, often stemming from systemic issues, poor leadership or ingrained behaviors. Here are some common characteristics and impacts of toxic work culture: 1. Lack of Transparency: In toxic environments, there's often a lack of transparency regarding decision-making processes, goals and expectations. This breeds distrust among employees and creates a culture of secrecy and uncertainty. 2. Micromanagement: Micromanagement is a common feature of toxic work cultures, where employees feel suffocated by excessive oversight and lack of autonomy. This not only stifles creativity and innovation but also leads to increased stress and burnout among employees. 3. Poor Communication: Effective communication is essential for a healthy work environment, but toxic cultures often feature miscommunication, gossip, and rumor-mongering. This leads to misunderstandings, conflicts and a breakdown of trust among team members. 4. Lack of Ac...

Finding happiness from within

Image
Claudia Nwankwo Many people endure pain, hoping those around them will notice and offer support. But often, everyone is wrapped up in their own lives and doesn’t have the time or focus to notice what others are going through. Woke up to the groaning sound of someone in pain who has been given surgery as permanent solution but they choose to suffer and keep managing the pain because they are afraid to make such decisions with such dramatic turn around in their health. I cannot understand why anyone would think so low of themselves that they rely on others’ validation to make important personal life decisions. …because “people who knew me before will say” If you have options (and usually you do), take them! Don’t suffer in silence just because you fear what people might say or worry about the outcome.  What if things turn out better than you ever imagined? No one can fully understand your pain, because no one else feels it the way you do.  So, whether it’s about...

Do yourself the favour of being aiit

Image
One thing I’ve learned in my little time on this earth is to never entertain negativity.   I’ve had to let go of quite a few relationships for the sake of my peace. And as I get older, I understand more and more why some people find comfort in pets over humans.   There’s a certain peace that comes with not having entitled people around—the ones who demand more than you can give, who hold unrealistic expectations for no reason.   People who do the bare minimum yet expect your entire existence in return.   It’s draining to deal with ungrateful people who only take, never considering you. The ones who are quick to put you down the moment they sense even the slightest vulnerability.   And then there are those who linger in your life under the guise of “friends” or “family” but have no real goodwill toward you. The gossipers, the backstabbers—the ones who secretly hope for your downfall.   There’s a certain stability that comes with staying in your lane, living ...

Don’t ignore the signs!!!

Image
“The Signs You Ignore Today Might Be the Reason You Leave Tomorrow” Claudia Nwankwo Life often gives us subtle hints when something isn’t right. As minor as they may seem at the moment, can accumulate over time and lead to bigger issues down the line. Ignoring those early warning signs can result in more significant problems, sometimes prompting us to make drastic decisions like quitting.  It is important to pay attention to them: See why. 1. Constant Discomfort One of the first signs many people ignore is a persistent sense of discomfort. This can manifest in several way. As frequent headaches or stomachaches, or emotional distress, like anxiety or sadness. When we feel uncomfortable in our environment, it's our body's way of signaling that something isn’t right. Over time, this constant discomfort can lead to emotional exhaustion, ultimately forcing us to make a change. 2. Lack of Fulfillment Another common sign is a lack of fulfillment. Whether it’s a job that doesn’t chal...
